NPCS
We don't really have "canons" on this site (because we want to foster member creativity!), but in order to keep a sort of canonical recent past, we have the names and brief descriptive blurbs of some of the important cats of the past. Perhaps more importantly, this NPC list also has all the NPCs that members have come up with -- either these cats are in the Wanted Ads, or they're just family members' names. You can reference them in battle, patrols, camps, Gatherings, etc. You can talk to them, too (but it's recommended that you let there be room for another RPer, so you're not just RPing with yourself x3). If there is a Wanted Ad for them, there will be a link in the name. These cats are also listed in the Allegiances.

If you don't have a wanted ad, you can remove the final "More info" line. For different Clans, please change the colors -- just replace the "COLOR 1" and "COLOR 2" with the hex codes listed in the next sentence. - An asterisk/star (*) means a cat is adoptable.
- A double asterisk (**) means a cat is adoptable, with conditions (such as, not at this time, or is a high ranking character for whom you must apply specially when the high ranks are opened up).
- A vertical line (|) at the end of a cat's description/name means that cat is killable.
- A double vertical line (||) means a cat is killable with conditions/permission from its creator.
- An exclamation point (!) at the end means that the name is either completely taken or the same prefix is already in use in the Clan by a played character. If two NPCs have the same prefix in a Clan or the identical same name, the name will be followed by a double exclamation mark (!!). The first one taken can keep the name, but if another is claimed by a member, the name must be changed so that it can fit with the rule of player characters not having identical names (disregarding kits and apprentices)/identical prefixes within Clans. So, if a cat has !!
that means the name is fine to keep as-is, but if there is only one ! then the name must be changed. If a name is, for whatever reason (such as being an animal not found in the UK/Western Europe or an item that cats would not know), not allowed on the site, it will have an exclamation point after it. (! means the name cannot stay and must change if you do take the character.) If a character has ! at the end, their name will not be included on the name claim list.
