HIGH POSITION AUDITIONS
Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for: High position auditions! What more is there to say? Well, a bit, actually.
How it's decided:
Rabid's trying something new in the hopes that it will help make this process even fairer and smoother (so it's an experiment). There will be an anonymous process with a committee. You will PM your audition to Rabiddog. Rabid will then change all of the names and bring the thread and the application to the committee, where it will be reviewed. The final decision will come down to the staff, but the committee's input will be taken into account. If a committee member is also applying for a position, they will not read the auditions that are for the positions for which they are applying, so there will be no biases.
*If you actively try to figure out who is on the committee, get them to tell you they're on the committee, or try to influence them in any way, this will be taken into account during the final decision.
What we look for most in an applicant:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERS
Leaders are the head of the Clan. They keep conflict within their Clan to a minimum and are in charge of inter-Clan relations. They still participate in regular Clan activities if they can, such as hunting and patrols. They have nine lives given to them by StarClan (or however many the previous leader does not have, if the previous leader is still alive and did not give up all of their lives) and receive the suffix -star. She-cats that know they are pregnant cannot become leaders.
Responsibilities:
DEPUTIES
Though still warriors, deputies are like the apprentice for leadership. They deal with much of the day-to-day of Clan life, though have only their one life and still must participate in an average warrior's responsibilities. A she-cat who knows she is pregnant cannot become deputy. The deputy must have had at least one apprentice before being chosen. The deputy will become leader at the retirement or death of the previous leader, except during extreme circumstances.
Responsibilities:
MEDICINE CATS
Medicine cats are the healers and spiritual guides for a Clan. They usually are able to act outside of Clan politics and do not fight. Usually, there is only one medicine cat and then their apprentice, though this is not always the case. A medicine cat may not have a mate and kits.

What we look for most in an applicant:
- Activity and site loyalty.
- Willingness to RP with everyone.
Character Applicability:
- You may apply for as many positions as you wish with as many characters as are applicable.
- You must have RPed the character at least once, unless you're auditioning with a canon/NPC.
- You may apply for as many positions with a single character that make sense as you wish.
- Leaders and deputies must have had at least one apprentice.
- Canon/NPC deputies may also be auditioned as leaders.
- Medicine cats will be accepted as apprentices unless they are NPC/canons, or unless you have a strong desire/reason for your character being a full medicine cat already.
Timeline:
- After submitting/completing your audition, there will be some days of consideration on it. All in all, there is a one week window for people to submit auditions initially (until July 10). After that, special requests to audition in case you missed the original window of time will be taken into consideration for auditions until July 14. The entire audition process should not take more than three weeks at the very most.
- If your character is chosen, you will receive a PM requesting confirmation that you accept your position(s). After confirmation has been received,
you will receive instructions for how to fulfill the different responsibilities of the position(s) you received. - Canons/NPCs can be played in the position as soon as their application/bio is accepted.
- Original characters must wait for an "eliminate the NPC" plot/situation to come up, unless history is being retconned (this is discussable).
- The Clans will be staggered out according to need, unless there is plot-specific reasons, so that not all the high positions suddenly die/retire/vanish/etc. all at once.
- It might take a couple of weeks, just like this process.
- When it's all ready, your character will have a RPed/IC ceremony and will officially be in their new position.
NPCs/Canons:
- Any leftover NPCs/canons -- except for medicine cats -- that are not accepted as a high position will become immediately adoptable as warriors.
- The only way that there can be two acting medicine cats is if an NPC/canon and an original character are accepted as high positions (unless there is retconning).
- After a short time, some of the NPCs might die and simply be StarClan cats. We're sort of playing it by ear.

RIVERCLAN
POPPYSTAR
She-cat. 110 moons. Leader (for 19 moons, since she was 91 moons). Previous leader: Littlestar, a gray tabby she-cat (she retired to the elders' den and was renamed Greatspirit by Poppystar).
Brief personality description: Positive, supportive, possibly more scheming than she lets on. The most intuitive, perceptive, and intelligent cats see a big "DO NOT TRUST" sign flashing on her face, but to most everyone, she's quite agreeable.
PERCHFUR
She-cat. 87 moons. Deputy (for only for 1 moon). Previous deputy: Streamrunner, a black she-cat, died of greencough.
Brief personality description: Somber, an active listener. Tough. Usually prefers to stand in the back. It's funny because she's small.
FERNWHISKER
Tom. 93 moons. Medicine cat. Previous medicine cat: Honeyflower, a she-cat.
Of his own volition, went through the path of becoming a medicine cat, starting at 7 moons when he apprenticed with the previous medicine cat, Honeyflower, who died not too long after granting Fernwhisker his full medicine cat name. Has the most innate talent for herbs, medicine, and actual healing of the medicine cats.
Brief personality description: If he were a Twoleg, he’d be called tacky. Loves giving snippets of wisdom. Chatty.

SHADOWCLAN
SWAMPSTAR
She-cat. 93 moons. Leader (for 42 moons). Previous leader: Dawnstar, a golden tabby tom, who, coincidentally, died at 93 moons.
There are rumors of foul play in his death which probably have little foundation in truth, but most likely stem from Swampstar's less than likable personality. Even so, she has kept peace for her entire reign, despite becoming a leader at a relatively young age (for a leader, compared to the others).
Brief personality description: Gruff and tough, a bit socially awkward – easily offends. No matter how much good she does, it seems as if her poorly executed social interactions only feed the old suspicion that she’s a murderer. Has kind of stopped trying to catch a break.
FLAMESTRIPE
Tom. 72 moons. Deputy (for 23 moons).
The third of Swampstar's deputies. The first was Flamestripe's mother, Bluewhisker, who died 30 moons ago, at age 67 moons, hit by a Twoleg monster. The next was Lightdapple, a ginger she-cat who retired 23 moons ago after losing a leg, though she was still relatively young. Brother/littermate of Littledrop. For more info, see Littledrop's bio.
Brief personality description: Charismatic, charming, courageous. Overall nice guy, but really dislikes kits. Has strong feelings about his family's drama, really hates Firestep.
FLATEAR
She-cat. 92 moons. Medicine cat (for maybe 80 moons).
Former kittypet (Scottish Fold). While she doesn't necessarily have to be a Scottish fold or have the name Flatear, what's important is that she is obviously a former kittypet and has proven herself a very worthy medicine cat of ShadowClan, better than many of her recent predecessors. She had to work twice as hard to get half as far, even in "kittypet-loving" ShadowClan.
Brief personality description: Brave enough to have run away from home and joined a group of wild cats. Doesn’t take crap, but with a smile.

THUNDERCLAN
TURTLESTAR
She-cat. 79 moons (youngest leader). Leader (for 3 moons). Previous leader: Stormstar, a dark gray she-cat, who lost her last life to old age at 161 moons.
Brief personality description: Quiet. Some say she’s overconfident, other says she’s insecure, and that’s why she’s so slow to take action. Observant. Has very interesting chemistry/interactions with Swampstar -- they aren't exactly foils and aren't exactly mirrors, but are somewhere in between(rabid rivalromanceships them).
OSPREYCLAW
She-cat. 101 moons. Deputy (for 3 moons).
Was Turtlestar's mentor.
Brief personality description: Brassy and bold, good at being the muscle.
CLOUDFUR
Tom. 140 moons. Medicine cat (for many moons).
Brief personality description: Definitely thinks he’s getting too old for this, but can’t stop helping anyway. Definitely was somehow involved with the Pineblaze drama, definitely has strong opinions about it, probably doesn't really talk about it, possibly was related to Stormstar who did all the Pineblaze drama nonsense, who knows if something more was going on.

WINDCLAN
HARETAIL
She-cat. 109 moons. Deputy (for 34 moons -- since Dewstar became a leader).
A well-respected warrior. Was friends (or daughter of or sisters) with the previous leader, Thistlestar, a brown tabby she-cat who was a rather mediocre leader and probably would have proven weak in the long run, who died of greencough.
Brief personality description: Maternal and fierce, often on edge, very quick to react.
SOOTFLOWER
She-cat. 72 moons. Medicine cat (for several moons).
Brief personality description: Think “Spottedleaf,” but with an uncanny ability for bitingly insightful one-liners; "Spottedleaf but sassy af". Definitely would make a fantastic buddy-cop comedy with Fernwhisker. Has always had a special connection to StarClan and a talent for reading their omens and signs; perhaps the most spiritual yet least preachy of the medicine cats.

AUDITION PROMPTS
Each position will have several prompts (or situations) from which you can choose to which your character must respond: it will be a problem that needs to be solved or a difficult moral situation, and your character must handle it ICly in a RP-style post; you may choose to write the aftermath of the choices as well. It may be any length that you think is appropriate, solves the problem/makes the choice, and fully demonstrates your character in the position. You can use any NPCs that you wish, use any of your characters as if they were NPCs in this context, name drop any characters; for any application, you may use Dewstar you would an NPC/canon. If you so wish it, you may use more than one for a single cat -- we just ask that each cat have only one application per position (so if you're applying for leader, deputy, and medicine cat with one cat, that's a maximum of three applications per cat -- but you can have as many of the appropriate prompts for each audition). You only need to do one. The process will probably be faster if you only do one, but you are free to do any number.
LEADERS
- One of your Clanmates comes back with a terrible bite wound, saying a mad beast attacked them but they escaped. Soon after, they start displaying signs of illness: water burns their throat and they cannot stand even to see or hear it, fever, confusion, insomnia. These get worse until they develop into full-blown paranoia and confusion, and a thin drizzling of pale spittle takes permanent residence on their lips. The other cat who survived the attack from the creature -- but wasn't bitten -- says this is just what the crazed creature looked like, drooling and shaking and mad. Your wounded Clanmate is falling to madness and growing in aggression. What do you do?
- One of your Clanmates is murdered in cold blood by a cat from another Clan. When you go -- in whatever way you do -- to find some kind of justice (or vengeance), you find that this other Clan is incredibly weak -- illness, starvation, and inner strife have left them totally vulnerable. Kits die at their mothers' bellies, there are no apprentices to clean the elders. Your Clan cries for justice/vengeance. What do you do?
DEPUTIES
- Your leader has decided that the Clans would do better with more equality and fairness, that the system is inherently flawed. So, your leader removes distinctions between ranks so everyone is simply a "Clanmate". Now, kits, queens, elders, and everyone share the responsibilities of warriors, going on patrols and hunting. The other Clans haven't found out about this yet, but the leader is determined to make it work. What do you do?
- While out leading a patrol during a terrible and bitter leaf-bare, you come across an incredibly thin apprentice from another Clan stealing prey from your territory. Nobody has a lot of prey right now, everyone is hungry. You follow this cat and discover that they're bringing food to a clawless and very sick kittypet with a litter of kits. You can see that some of the kits have died, but the queen is too unwell even to bury the tiny bodies. Your entire patrol can see your every move, and you know it'll get back to the rest of the Clan. What do you do?
MEDICINE CATS
- It is leaf-bare. Your Clan has come down with a terrible illness and there is only one herb that can cure it, but that herb is found on another Clan's territory. When you go to fetch the herb, you run into a patrol of this Clan, and they tell you of some symptoms that have been occurring: symptoms which you recognize as the onset of the terrible illness ravaging your Clan. Since it's leaf-bare, the herb will be rare and there will almost certainly only be enough for one Clan. What do you do?
- On your way to the Moonpool, you and the warrior with you are attacked by another Clan. The warrior is killed and you are taken away. There are several other cats there with seemingly nothing in common captured with you. While you're imprisoned, you notice that it's near a full moon, and you know your Clan passes this way to get to the Island: you could tell them where you are. However, while this Clan that captured you isn't in particularly bad shape, you know that they wouldn't stand a chance against your furious Clan, and they'd be crushed in battle, and many lives would be lost. This Clan hasn't abused you or asked you to use your abilities at all, and they seem to be collecting cats but doing nothing with them, and you don't know why. What do you do?
- Several warriors have complained of bellyaches, and so far two have gotten worse. One is on the verge of death, and now a kit has begun to complain of a bellyache. Your apprentice, Goosepaw, has been out tirelessly working, collecting herbs, while you've been taking care of the warriors. Today, though, you've switched the duties and Goosepaw will stay at the camp. On your way through the territory, you notice something stagger, tumble to the ground, and lie still. You see that it's a goose. When you investigate, a slimy throng of maggots bursts out. Could this have something to do with what's making your warriors sick? Could it be a sign from StarClan? If you're wrong, the consequences would be dire. Your Clan could turn against Goosepaw if they thought your apprentice was somehow tainted -- but what if Goosepaw is tainted? This disease in prey could light a panic in the Clan -- but what if it is the reason? What if you're wrong? What if you're right? What do you do?
AUDITIONS
Here it is! The code for the auditions. If you've made it through this whole post, you'll make it through these auditions no problem, easy-peasy.
To audition, please PM Rabiddog with your character's name and desired rank as the title, with this code copy-and-pasted. It's recommended you type it all up in a google doc/word doc/elsewhere and then copy-and-paste the entire thing, so you don't accidentally send an unfinished audition or lose all your hard work to the whims of the internet.
