ACTIVITY CHECK #1 Our first activity check! Here's all of what you need to know:
- It will last two weeks, from now until the end of the day in 14 days (that is, before staff wakes up on the 15th day, August 15th).
- You must post RP-style for every character you wish to keep. You do not need to post on every account. You may post with your OOC account.
- You may "rescue" NPCs you wish to live. Simply show them either being literally rescued or somehow escaping the disaster, like your character.
- Please bold the names of characters you want to mark as active or rescued at least once in the post. If you are rescuing NPCs or inactive players' characters, they do not need to be from your characters' Clans -- you can show anyone, anywhere surviving.
- You may also show your character or one of your NPCs dying. You may not actively kill an NPC made by or shared with (an)other member(s), unless they give explicit permission.
- Your posts may be as long or as short as you like, and you only need to post once. You may post more than once if you wish, such as if you wish to "rescue" another character (see VIII). You may include as many characters as you wish in a single post.
- For members without any characters, you don't need to post here, we'll simply check general member activity (such as games, cbox activity, etc.) within the time frame of the activity check. It must be at least some point during the two week period of the activity check.
- If a member seems inactive, especially if they play a character with some kind of relationship or plot with one of yours, you may also "rescue" that character and, if the player does not return at the end of that two week period, you may put them up for adoption or you may save them for the member for if they return. These sorts of characters may be saved for a returning member until the next activity check, at which point they either die or become NPC/adoptable for anyone and are not reserved for their original player.
- Leaders may lose as many or as few lives as they wish.
- All characters -- NPCs and played characters alike -- not rescued or accounted for are assumed missing and dead.
- If you join the site during the activity check, your characters and NPCs all will be marked "safe" automatically.
- If you have an unfinished bio/application, it must be finished by the end of the activity check.
SITUATION: There has been a sudden and terrible downpour. The lake has swelled beyond its shores and flooded, overflowing every body of water that connects to it. RiverClan's camp and territory are flooded. Cats are washed away or cling to each other, swimming as hard and fast as they can to try to escape. ShadowClan is hit by the flood as well, with its low lying territory. More importantly, for the water does not fully reach the camp, prey is washed away, leaving ShadowClan with nothing to eat, and carrion floats all through the wet spots, poisoning what was left. ThunderClan's quarry camp fills with water and the cats must seek high ground. They, too, lose prey. WindClan is trapped on the hilltops of their camp, just out of reach of the water, but unable to go anywhere until the water lessens. It is probable that rabbit dens have been flooded and the prey has drowned. SAFE CHARACTERS

Dewstar watched as his Clan struggled against the rising tides. Specifically, he saw Petalkit struggling in the waters. Without wasting a moment, Dewstar leapt in after the she-kit, grabbed her by her scruff, and dragged her out onto dry land. When she was safe, he breathed a sigh of relief, but soon felt something tug his foot back in, and he slipped back into the waters, struggling for air. He didn't struggle long -- when he blacked out, he saw StarClan, their glittering eyes and shimmering pelts, and knew that he'd lost another life. When he was pulled back up to dry land, he coughed out the water and glanced about, blinking some of the water out of his eyes. He probably wouldn't be doing that again today. ----------------- Littledrop felt pangs of hunger, but the fresh-kill pile was empty, and her paws and pelt were damp from all of the water. She sighed and curled up, taking care not to strain her leg, when Ravenfrost approached with a scrawny dead toad. "I think it drowned," he meowed, dropping it before her. She shook her head and insisted that he share with her, so that they might survive the crisis together. Swampstar, Flamestripe, and Flatear all gave instructions and sacrificed their own meals for the rest of the Clan, though they never perished, despite how weak they might have felt, as they continued to move, rescuing Clanmates wherever they could, and helping the odd other-Clan cat when they came across them. ----------------- Emberfrost struggled in the waters, but his sister, Sleetclaw, soon came to his rescue, dragging him up and placing him on dry land. (posts can be longer or shorter than this -- this is a variety/range in the size/"effort" the posts need to take.)

Poppystar struggled against the current, frantically trying to make sure everycat was doing well against the flood. All of the Clan should know how to swim decently, but the kits and elders... Greatspirit! Was Greatspirit okay? Each frantic paw surged forward frantically, her panicked and worried gooseberry eyes flicking around with each movement forward. Where was... there! A bank! Once more, Poppystar surged forward. Her paws scrabbled frantically for something to cling to, and eventually the leader hauled herself out and swiftly turned around. The next closest cat to the bank, Poppystar had to grasp by the scruff and pull out of the rapidly churning overflowing river.
--
Mallowpaw gently rasped his tongue against flank of his exhausted sister Tansypaw, carefully flicking his eyes over the remains of his family. Sparrownose was somehow allowed to curl up to the shivering form of their mother Poppyfang, which had immensely surprised the siblings. Sorrelpaw was keening over the still form of Willowpaw, who had unfortunately drowned in an attempt to rescue a kit. Their entire family was grieving, but no-one more than the siblings, who were all extremely close to one another.
"Sorrelpaw," he rasped gently, getting to his paws and soothingly running his nose against her cheek beneath her eye. "We will all miss Willowpaw," he murmured softly and cast a stricken look over his dead sister's still form and lifeless eyes. "But we need you." Sorrelpaw head-butted her brother, the female apprentice seeking the comfort from her only male sibling. Mallowpaw let out a soft keen of his own, before burrowing his head in the other female's chest. Behind him, he was faintly aware of Tansypaw circling the two and laying down beneath them and shivering gently.
If he had to give up his share of prey to them, he would.
--
Newtpaw turned up his nose at the sour smelling piece of prey, ignoring the faint rumbling of his stomach. Even though there was few prey, they smelled sour and sweet, something that made his stomach churn with nausea. Laurelstrike gave him a disapproving look, while Rabbitclaw and Thornfoot gently brushed there muzzles against his head in understanding. NOTES ; Annnnd, this is my post! Willowpaw drowned trying to rescue a kit.

(Do you need me to post with Turtlestar/Sootflower or nah, since they aren't finished? Also I bolded Ratfang, as obvi I don't want him to be dead, but he is still missing sooo)
Amberdawn was for once overjoyed to be a RiverClan cat. The fluffy she-cat found that the floodwaters seemed to suck at her body, tugging at her long fur like fingers grasping for a hold. She had Lilysong's scruff in her jaws, the older she-cat bleeding from the head. Amberdawn had watched her old mentor go down beneath the waters, and when she'd surfaced, she hadn't been moving. The warrior assumed Lilysong had hit her head, but she didn't have time to search for Fernwhisker at the moment. What mattered was getting her and Lilysong to safe ground, and making sure the she-cat was breathing. When she caught sight of her leader pulling cats onto a bank, she quickly followed in the she-cat's paw strokes, pushing Lilysong up onto safe ground before dragging her own weighed-down body out of the water as well. Pressing her nose into Lilysong's sopping wet flank, she felt the she-cat take in a shuddering breath. "Thank StarClan, you're alive." She sighed, rasping her tongue over the gray tabby's wet fur.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Batwing pressed against Tinysong, feeling the shiver of the she-cat's body against her own. A measly lizard, water-logged and probably not fit for eating, lay between the two of them, untouched. Batwing refused to eat it, and Tinysong was just as stubborn sometimes. The black she-cat watched as her father, Oatwhisker, stepped into the camp, wet from the floods and empty-pawed. The two hardly made eye-contact, and Batwing felt a fresh surge of anger and worry. For once, she was happy Ratfang wasn't around - he was probably safer than she was, right now. A slip of black fur trotted into camp after Oatwhisker, and Wrenfire flashed a wide smile at her two adopted daughters as she padded over. "Anything?" Batwing asked, ears pricked. Wrenfire's smile faltered, and she shook her head. 'Impossible to hunt in these conditions.' She sighed.
A white head broke into Batwing's peripherals, Blizzardpelt's grizzled muzzle dropping a damp rat - plump, but certainly soggy - in the center of the she-cats. 'Found it swimming. It smells alright, we can all share - and that lizard, too.' The tom's gruff voice was a comfort that Batwing happily took advantage of.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Aspenpaw surely would have died if not for the large golden tabby who dragged her out of the rushing waters and up onto dry land. She recognized the warrior, who grinned at her in response to her water-logged gratitude, as Lionclaw. Not far away, she spotted her parents, Nettlefang and Tigerstrike, cleaning each oher's pelts as Smoketalon glared in Aspenpaw's direction, somehow looking more upset to see his sister than he seemed with his wet pelt. A black-as-night tom padded over to them, and Aspenpaw quickly recognized him as Shadestep. 'Are the two of you alright?' The older warrior asked, glancing between the two of them. Aspenpaw let the tom answer, glancing around anxiously for Bramblefire or Robincreek. Instead, she saw her other brother, Birchwhisker, pull himself from the water, his long fur soaking wet from the swim.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Mossheart was searching the waters, safe on a dry hill but worried about the young and old, and she was keeping a keen lookout for any cats struggling in the water. She had watched her father and mother, Elmstep and Littlebrook, wading through the shallows, trying to see how far they could go and perhaps to find some form of prey. Staring at their drastically small territory, Mossheart had a sinking feeling that they would be going hungry for a while yet. 'Okay, so I can recognize that this is very bad, but how unfair? StarClan is clearly favoring RiverClan with this new territory.' Came a cheerful complaint, and the tortie was momentarily distracted by the sound of her brother's voice. Dipperflight and Rookfrost were sitting together, and it seemed that Dipperflight was doing his best to annoy his quiet sister.
It was the second time in barely a moon that Ashpaw found himself spluttering in the water. He only struggled for a moment before a sharp pain in his scruff told him that a cat was taking mercy on him and pulling him from the water. The gray tom coughed and sputtered, kicking his paws to drag himself onto dry land, and felt the teeth release his scruff. Blinking water from his eyes, he looked up to see a grizzled black and white face glaring down at him. "Could you not try to drown yourself when I'm around? I'll have a sore jaw for moons because of you. Get away from the water, you silly kit." Mintcloud grumbled angrily, nudging him with her paws until Ashpaw got to his own and scampered towards safety. Sighing, Mintcloud settled down too close to the water, watching with half-lidded eyes as the floodwater engulfed their territory. A tremor of fear pierced her heart.

SHADOWCLAN Thicketwhisker heard the waters before he saw them. The white and brindle tom had been nestled up to his mate Featherfall but the crashing sound had woken him. His first instinct was to check on his kits but he needed to know what was happening before he woke anyone up. He ran to the entrance to the warrior den and saw the water flooding toward him. Ok, now was a good time to wake everyone. He moved quickly to his warrior kits, Frostnose and Brairshade and not so gently pushed them awake. By now the water had started to enter the den. Frostnose, go wake the apprentices, Briarshade - He looked his deaf son in the eyes so his body language and words could be read - "Check on the nursery."
--------
Firestep had been unable to sleep and he had gotten free of the flood before it hit camp. As such, eh was one of the few not injured from the water. He felt that entitled him to first pick of the meals and he snarled at Littledrop and Ravenfrost's toad. That should be his.
Nearby, Skylark - Thicketwhisker's mentor - helped Talonshade and Emberbreeze divvy out portions of food to those in need. Crowpaw, Sedgepaw and Lilypaw helped to comfort the queens and their kits.
-------- THUNDERSCLAN Hoofjaw had always fancied herself a warrior, even after her retirement. But she had also always been a heavy sleeper. She was finally shaken awake by her den-mate One-eye how rolled his one good eye when she finally opened hers. "whats ha- Mouseflower's gruff and harsh voice cut her off. Hurry up, we need to go now."
-------
The Clan - or most of them - had made it to higher ground but prey was scare and small. Cottonfur did what she could, hunting almost non-stop to bring back every morcile she could find while her sister Milkywhite helped get that food to those who needed it most.
------- WindClan
Softears hated being wet but he hated loosing Clanmates more then anything else. When the waters came, he did what he had to. He was a stronger cat then most of his Clanmates and he had no difficulty diving in and pulling smaller cats to the surface. After ensuring Foxtail and Emberpaw's safety, he did his part in rescuing anyone else that he could. Brooksong was among the cats he pulled out of the rushing water early on and she, after catching her breath, helped him from the shore, taking the rescued cats to dryer land. The Senior Warrior had been looking for a few cats in particular and when she saw the familiar pelt of one of them, she didn't wait for Softears to go after the limp body. Brooksong dove and swam easily to the body of Crookedwing[/b[ and snatched on to her scruff but the swim back to shore was not so simple. With the extra weight, she found herself being pulled under. She had no idea how anyone could do this. She was thinking about what she would say to the cats who greeted her in StarClan when she felt her own scruff grabbed and dragged ashore. Once again, Softears had proven himself a hero. She heaved and coughed up water before checking on her apprentice. "SOOTFLOWER!"[/u] She called for the medicine cat's aid.
--------- RiverClan The water was coming for her. Fear flashed before the RiverClan elder's mind as she remembered the last life she had lost as a leader. Drowning. She couldn't loose her final life to the cursed water again. Not a cat who had one made her name in the water. She had to get to higher ground. She couldn't be afraid. Greatspirit leaped into the water and fought against the current. She tried to push the fear and memories from her mind but it was impossible. Not with the triggers of the real world.
Robinpaw did her best to help her mentor Fernwhisker with the cats who had too much water in their lungs. She was small and had been pulled to safety after only a few seconds in the water and she was relatively undamaged. She learned quickly the techniques needed to draw water out of the cats who had early drowned. Roseflower was among those cats pulled from the water just int he nick of time.

Panic was making it difficult for Drizzlefur to really think. The only thing in her head was more of a chant, a mantra if you will: 'Gotta find them, gotta find them, gotta find them.' The 'them' in question being her family. She'd spotted Amberdawn huddled safely on the bank with her old mentor, and she'd gotten a glimpse of Rainpebble helping a young apprentice, but her parents weren't anywhere. Finally Drizzlefur spotted Lilacsky and Ripplestrike, and Drizzlefur's heart immediately stopped it's near-painful pounding. They were safe, her family was all safe, thank you StarClan.
- - -
Briarpaw's belly felt tight with hunger, and it grumbled almost constantly now in a way he'd hoped was in the past. Despite the way his stomach howled at him to eat the mouse currently held between his teeth, even he knew the Clan needed it more. It had been beyond lucky he'd found it, trapped as it was by washed up sticks and barely alive. Still, it counted as fresh-kill.
He placed it on the makeshift prey pile and turned away from it, not taking anything for himself. Instead he went towards the medicine den and poked his head in. His mother, Ferndapple was asleep, but he could smell the sickness on her even from here. She'd been one of the first to fall to sickness, and Briarpaw's heart felt heavy as his paws when he turned away to go hunting again. Maybe his luck would hold out.
---
At the top of ThunderClan's camp, Nightpaw was huddled with both of his brothers, Ravenpaw and Darkpaw. Even if he didn't like Ravenpaw, the way he was just laying there, not even trying to groom himself, was pathetic. Shadowtail and Blackclaw were mumbling to themselves a little way off but seemed to be okay.

RIVERCLAN:
Specklepaw was frantic. She didn't see her parents or her siblings anywhere. She looked around the flood in a panic, and in her panic, blanked on how to swim. "Help!" she cried, "My parents, Rowanheart!" Suddenly, there was an aggressive tug on Specklepaw's scruff, and she looked back. Rowanheart grumbled under his breath "Come on, Specklepaw. You're not a kit anymore." In relief, Specklepaw's gaze shifted to the shore where she spotted Reedpelt grooming Dawnstripe. Just when they were about the reach the shore, however, a sudden current separated the two cats, pushing Specklepaw closer to shore and Rowanheart away. "Rowanheart!" she screeched as the tom was helplessly carried further.
THUNDERCLAN:
Robincreek's steely gaze swept through the clan. She was one of the first few to have reached higher ground as she was on the morning patrol the day the storm hit. She looked frantically for Bramblefire, but also shifted her gaze to the medicinal herbs floating around. Were they salvageable? Could something be done about them? These questions sifted through her mind and when she saw Bramblefire with another group of cats, she felt at ease. Turning to Cloudfur, she asked "Are the herbs salvageable? I would like to think you'd like to catch the herbs while you can, for it'll be a while before they can be farmed again."
WINDCLAN:
Kestrelpaw's ear perked at the sound of rushing water. Waking up from a daze and soaking wet, he had wondered who had saved him from the now flooded camp. He coughed up the remainder of water in his lungs and looked around. Ah. There was Ashpaw, being chastised as usual. He chuckled before shaking the water from his fur. As soon as Ashpaw was done receiving a lecture, he noticed Mintcloud, her nose now dangerously near the water. He rushed to the she-cat's side and propped her away from the water, remarking, "What, are you trying to drown yourself too?"

SUN & CROOKED & FLAME EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!
ShadowClan
"Swamp" was a smell that Sunstrike was used to, the pine forests of ShadowClan usually being a damp, musty place on a good day. This was not a good day. The big tom picked his way through the forest, mouth agape as he scented for prey he feared he wouldn't find. With every step, his paws sank deep in to the mud, staining his paws with putrid black mush that smelled of rot. Fear and disappointment crashed through him, along with the stinging edge of frustration clouding his brain. He hadn't seen a single toad all day, in several days.
With a growl, he turned tail and stalked back to camp, the sun beginning to dip low in the sky. Another day of... nothing. How long could this go on? Was StarClan punishing them for something. With a shudder, it dawned on him that if they were, they were being merciless to all the clans. The air reeked of death, and he knew it wasn't just his own clan suffering, dying. As he pushed through the wall of brambles back in to camp, he glanced around, heart heavy. His clanmates were dying. Starving to death slowly and painfully, and part of him, a bitter, sad part, wished that they had simply drowned in the floods like so many other clans had. At least Batwing was still okay, and at least... A grey form moved to his side, dropping a soggy, bloated mouse at his paws. "Share with me?" He swallowed the hard lump in his throat, blinking back the sting of tears as he turned to face Ferretcloud. Together, wordlessly, they sat and ate, huddled close and taking comfort in the other's survival.
WindClan The tunnels, lately, had been Crookedwing's safe haven, the place the petite she-cat could go to get away from the prying eyes and uncomfortable silence she seemed to earn from her clanmates. While out searching for herbs for Sootflower, however, the rain that had been pounding for well over two days now seemed to pick up in intensity, the pelting drops slamming right through her fur and stinging her skin. Of course she had fled, but not to camp, back to the tunnels, feeling she would be safe there, and certainly she would be, right? Barely an hour had passed however when the pool in the center most tunnel had broken it's confined due to the crack in the ceiling allowing in a constant stream of fast moving water, and now the place she loved so dearly was threatening her life. Water was rushing in now, growing in the center room from every available exit.
Terror crushed her as she turned tail and fled, barely bursting from the exit closest to camp before the water completely filled the hollowed out underground. Relief swept her, but it was short lived as she tumbled over a steep hill and found herself underwater before she could even gasp for breath. Water filled her lungs and she thrashed about, a poor swimmer due to her disability. As the world faded, strong teeth grabbed her scruff and another thrashing body hauled her to the surface, and after a few heartbeats, relatively dry land. The voice screeched for the medicine cat, but a few seconds of confusion quickly cleared, and she allowed herself to cough and sputter, hobbling to her feet to heave and expel the cursed water. With a weak, grateful smile, she butted her head against Brooksong, before glancing around, concerned for her brothers and their safety despite their estrangement. She finally relaxed, if only a little, when she spotted Runningleap and Gorsefur perched atop a boulder, staring disdainfully down at the water and looking soaked to the bone, but alive. ThunderClan Flamesong sat cooly far above the flooded camp, staring at the water that licked at the rock with a mocking, sucking sound, as if it were taunting her as it destroyed their home, their supplies, and killed their prey. She frowned, though her eyes remained calm and gave no answer to her emotions for any cats that looked her way. Without moving, she scanned the gathered cats who all looked dreadful, various emotions- terror, anger, fear, sorrow, contorting their faces and coming off them in waves.
How was she supposed to feel about this? Sad? It was certainly life and natures way, to give, and take, and sometimes all it did was take. Feeling sorry for themselves wasn't going to help anyone, not the cats who died in the initial rush of water, not the cats who died attempting to scale the rock to escape, not the cats who would certainly die as they failed to find food in the coming moon. If she were one of those cat's, it was clearly StarClan's will, and she would face it as calm and stoic as she faced everything. Exciting herself over potentially nothing but death would be a pointless endeavor. Her icy green gaze scanned the soaked, panicked masses again as the rain picked back up, eliciting a moan of anguish from the sensitive beasts around her. Where was Foxthorn? Hazelpelt huddled with Redfoot and Petalfur. Addertuft seemed disinterested in the fate of her kits or ex-mate as she chattered in a low tone with a few other cats. Disgusting. All of it was.

Longstride had been on a border patrol with Hazewhisker when the water came, down in one of the valleys of WindClan's undulating moorland. It was pouring with water, as if the sky had turned into a waterfall, and the two cats were soaked to the skin--but borders had to be patrolled, even in the worst of weather. He was grateful to WindClan's new deputy that Kestrelpaw, at least, had been allowed to stay in bed and out of this nightmare. He almost didn't notice the change in the air; something turgid and metallic, and there was something unfamiliar in the way the wind blew. Longstride glanced up, scenting, his grey and white fur plastered to his skin. "Hazewhisker, something smells strange." Hazewhisker glanced at him in amusement. "Strange? How nonspecif--" and suddenly she broke off, smelling it too. Musty, heavy water, coming from the camp, like the lake after heavy rain, like the heavy rain that had been pouring for days. But they were so far from the lake, so far even from RiverClan--how could there be water here? The two cats ran to the top of the nearest rise and looked out towards the source of the scent, toward WindClan camp--or rather, to the wall of water that was just closing around the base of the camp. Deep, fast-moving--this was it, then, the word flood. It looked like the world was melting, like the lake was swallowing everything. And it was so fast--even from this distance. Longstride immediately snapped into action. The neutral lands were clearly flooded, even from this distance--the huge four-legged beasts in those makeshift shelters would be shrieking. Even with the cover of a forest, it was clear that ThunderClan was also suffering the sudden flood. It had always drained away before. The river must have been building for days.
Longstride glanced at Hazewhisker, but she remained silent, calculating--and they didn't have time to run through an theories, not now. It was time to put plans into practice. "Find somewhere dry if you can," the tom murmured, as she slowly came out of the shock. "I've got to check on the ThunderClan border patrol." Hazewhisker winced visibly, but acquiesced, and Longstride took off at a ground-eating sprint. The tom could be fast when he had to be and now should have been no exception; but the ground was slippery and the mud dangerously deep in places. Skirting the water as best he could, he made it about halfway to the other border when he saw something bobbing in the current. Something... grey? Dewstar? The fast-moving water had carried him away from camp so quickly, and it seemed hellbent on carrying him further out, away from shore. Without thinking, Longstride flung himself into the current. Immediately, this turned out to be a mistake. The water was utterly freezing and even treading water was an effort in itself--but slowly, mercifully, he crawled his way to the unconscious cat and grabbed onto his scruff. He couldn't fight the current, not between breaths, so he set a diagonal course towards the shore, trying not to panic at how far and fast they were going. What felt like hours later, mercifully, his paws hit mostly-solid earth. He just had the strength to get Dewstar up to higher ground before he collapsed, hacked up some water himself, and glanced at the shrunken, crumpled figure of his leader, and that most precious of sights: the rise and fall of his chest. Relief flooded through his body and the laughter ripped from him like a wild thing, hysterical and joyful, a way he hadn't laughed since he was an apprentice. There was something magical about him, even bedraggled, half-dead, covered in mud and with a tendril of pondweed wrapped delicately around his ears like a mane. "Stay with us, Dewstar," the tom murmured, deliriously, into the mud. "Stay with me." And then, exhausted but relieved, the tom passed out beside him.
