HIGH POSITION RESULTS
What you've been waiting for for so long! Here we have the results of the high position auditions. For any non-canon characters, the rise to power will be explained here. Included here is an explanation of the duties of all the high positions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERS
Leaders are the head of the Clan. They keep conflict within their Clan to a minimum and are in charge of inter-Clan relations. They still participate in regular Clan activities if they can, such as hunting and patrols. They have nine lives given to them by StarClan (or however many the previous leader does not have, if the previous leader is still alive and did not give up all of their lives) and receive the suffix -star. She-cats that know they are pregnant cannot become leaders.
Responsibilities:
DEPUTIES
Though still warriors, deputies are like the apprentice for leadership. They deal with much of the day-to-day of Clan life, though have only their one life and still must participate in an average warrior's responsibilities. A she-cat who knows she is pregnant cannot become deputy. The deputy must have had at least one apprentice before being chosen. The deputy will become leader at the retirement or death of the previous leader, except during extreme circumstances.
Responsibilities:
MEDICINE CATS
Medicine cats are the healers and spiritual guides for a Clan. They usually are able to act outside of Clan politics and do not fight. Usually, there is only one medicine cat and then their apprentice, though this is not always the case. A medicine cat may not have a mate and kits.
Responsibilities:
Now here it is -- the moment you've all been waiting for! The high positions are:
Hooray! Congratulations to everyone and thank you so, so much for auditioning. Remember that all canons not taken are now open to adoption like normal NPCs, with Rabiddog as the "character creator" to be tagged in a bio. Everyone who has a canon/NPC, please go write up those bios/apps as soon as you can so you can get started leading your Clans.
The images in the banner will not be changed to original characters/non-NPC until they officially gain the position IC, if there is a special event occurring first. Claimed characters will be taken off the NPC list and stars will be removed from them in the allegiances once their bios have been completed and accepted. Characters who are no longer going to be in a high position will be opened up to regular adoption immediately, so, if you wish, you can participate in the plot as it occurs, rather than let them just be NPCs doing it all. Note, if you wish to adopt Flatear/"ex-kittypet ShadowClan medicine cat," we're open to discussion regarding you getting the position of medicine cat, if you are eligible.
Please feel free to ask questions!
- Hold Clan meetings.
- A thread. No minimum monthly requirement, though they should occur whenever something important happens in the Clan or the plot calls for them. - Conduct ceremonies.
- When a character needs a ceremony, in a thread, call a Clan meeting and perform the ceremony. Here are the wiki pages for the ceremonies. - Name warriors.
- Communicate with the member who plays the apprentice about to become a warrior -- are they alright with you naming their character? Do they have a specific name in mind? Would they accept from a list? Would they like their character to request something ICly? Remember, you get to do the ceremony and choose the name by default, but everything relating to a player's character requires their permission and if they explicitly request something other than the default, that's what should be followed. In order to do this, hold a Clan meeting and perform the ceremony. - Assign mentor/apprentice pairs.
- On the Mentors and Apprentices page, tag the players & characters you're assigning and then hold a Clan meeting and a ceremony. Or hold the Clan meeting and the ceremony, and then post on the Mentors/Apprentices page. It might be smart to check in with members about pairing up characters, but you do not have to. Again, if there's any reason a member does not approve of a pairing, it's their right (as owners of the characters) to request something different. - Attend apprentice final assessments, especially in the absence of the mentor or deputy.
- When apprentices are 10-15 moons old, their mentor can call for an assessment. You would observe the apprentice, hidden, as they hunt and decide whether or not they were competent enough to become a warrior. If an apprentice does something noteworthy and helpful or performs outstandingly in a difficult situation, you may skip the assessment and grant their warrior name without one. - Lead the Clan in Gatherings.
- You have the first post for your Clan in Gathering threads. Make announcements, interact with other Clans, etc. - Hold judgement and mete on punishment as necessary.
- If a cat commits a crime, you can ICly punish them (it is best to check with the member about this first). Common punishments are apprentices duties, confinement to camp, or exile. - Hear patrol reports.
- With the deputy. Can simply be in passing when RPing with the deputy. - Choose/appoint deputies.
- Must not be played by a member who already has a leader or deputy character, cannot be played by you yourself, should not be an NPC. Should have had an apprentice already (but you can break the warrior code if you want). Again, it's good to talk with the member before you try to do this and, if you want, have an IC thread where your character asks theirs ICly. Hold a Clan meeting and make the announcement. - In general, lead the Clan: protect and keep order.
- Run the daily tasks of the Clan.
- Assign patrols every day.
- Post at least one thread a season in which you assign a patrol or lead a patrol. - Act as the leader in the event that the leader is absent or incapacitated.
- This includes taking up leader responsibilities listed above. - Advise the leader.
- Organize warrior training sessions to keep the warriors fresh or to teach new skills.
- On an as-need basis. No minimum threads.
- Know, stock, and apply the proper herbs for injuries and illnesses.
- At least one thread per season collecting herbs. - Regularly check on the health of the Clan, especially elders, queens, and kits.
- Assist with birthing, pregnant, and nursing queens.
- Be present in every birth thread that happens in camp, unless there is an IC or OOC reason that you or your character, respectively, would be absent. Have at least one thread with the queens. - Commune with StarClan.
- At least one thread per season, meet with the other medicine cats during the half-moon to travel to the Moonpool together and commune with StarClan. - Interpret prophecies and signs.
- Advise the leader.
- Choose, train, and name medicine cat apprentices.
- Communicate with the member who plays the apprentice/would-be apprentice -- are they alright with their character becoming a medicine cat apprentice? Are they eligible to become medicine cat/medicine cat apprentice (can't have another high position in the same Clan, can't have another MC/MCA character)? Are they alright with you naming their character? Do they have a specific name in mind? Would they accept from a list? Would they like their character to request something ICly? Remember, you get to do the ceremony and choose the name by default, but everything relating to a player's character requires their permission and if they explicitly request something other than the default, that's what should be followed. In order to do this, perform the ceremony with the apprentice. Often good also to communicate with the leader, either ICly or OOCly.
- There should be at least two training threads of whatever sort you wish before you give your apprentice their full name/you appoint them as a full medicine cat beside you. - Upon the death of the Clan leader, accompany the deputy to the Moonpool to be appointed as the new leader.
Now here it is -- the moment you've all been waiting for! The high positions are:
RIVERCLAN
Leader: Poppystar, played by Jinn
Deputy: Perchfur, played by Butterfingers
Medicine cat: Fernwhisker, played by @trick
Medicine cat apprentice: Robinpaw, played by theAfanc
- Chosen to be the medicine cat apprentice in the normal way.

SHADOWCLAN
Leader: Sunstar, played by Glitch
- In line with the ShadowClan main plot, Flamestripe will step down so he can quest for the missing cats, so Swampstar will name Sunstrike her new deputy. After a time of no success finding the missing cats, Swampstar will step down and assist in the search for the missing cats. And she's tired of everyone's crap, so.
Deputy: Thicketwhisker, played by theAfanc
Medicine cat: Littledrop, played by Rabiddog
- In line with the ShadowClan main plot, Flatear will go missing. Around this time, Littledrop will be severely injured by a fox and will have the choice to retire to the elders' den, which she refuses, instead taking up the mantle of medicine cat. Dawnstar once said he had a dream of tiny drops dripping from pine trees, and he didn't know what it meant, but Littledrop wonders if maybe it means that she should step up and help her Clan in its time of need. She will need to reach out to the other medicine cats to learn, well, everything. This will probably occur once the thread A Day of Hunting is complete.

WINDCLAN
Leader: Dewstar, played by Rabiddog
Deputy: Asterfang, played by @envy
- Haretail will step down from being deputy, thinking she's getting too old for the position, and Dewstar, seeing Asterfang's ambition and dedication (and thus probable willingness to continue the tunnel project even after Dewstar's death), will name her his new deputy. This will happen as soon as possible.
