Brooksong ~ 132 ~ Senior Warrior ~ She-cat
"Fernpaw, are you eating enough? - Runningleap, are you serious groom yourself once in awhile! - Sootflower, can I pick you up any herbs while I'm roaming the territory?"
Brooksong ran around the camp clearing like a two-leg livestock bird with it's head cut off. Every cat she passed had to be quizzed and grilled and tidied up. Seriously, what would WindClan do if she wasn't around? Probably starve to death or get laughed out of Gatherings for looking so messy and unkempt. She had a hard job but it was a task only she could possibly be up for. And her work was never done! With everyone in camp finally looking groomed and fed, she herself scarfed down a small mouse before padding out of camp.
In addition to verbally takign care of literally everyone, she also hunted quite a bit. What good was telling young Fernpaw to eat if there was no freshkill on the pile. And so, she found herself heading out into the territory to do her warrior duties and take care of her Clan. Again.
Dewstar hadn't put her on any patrols recently. Word had gotten around that almost nobody wanted to be on a patrol with her because she was constantly fixing their posture or technique or talking too much and scaring away the prey. Even Brooksong herself had to admit she was a better hunter when she went out alone. Less distractions. But still, you'd think after all the couples she'd hooked up and the babies she'd helped Sootflower birth and the food she brought back to camp, you'd think someone would show their appreciation. Shut up, Dewstar you don't count you have to love her for who she is.
The tabby she-cat padded silently through the tall reeds and down to the main fields that housed the WindClan cats. She was going to find something to bring back - perhaps a large rabbit or a curious bird - and hopefully,s he wouldn't get distracted by reminding the poor prey-kits to watch their backs.

Kestrelpaw
PROFILEKestrelpaw at that exact moment had walked out of the apprentice's den and into the wide open and airy fields to stretch. He had just got up from a short, but deserved nap, and had yet to be called out to go on patrol with Longstride. Ashpaw also had yet to wake from a short nap and discuss his secrets with him. Mmmm, perhaps he could sneak away from camp and all the ruckus. Perhaps to a place where he could sort out some thoughts without any disturban- oh, there's Brooksong. Boy, did he NOT want to deal with that today. As if Mousefeather wasn't already enough of being a mother and reminding him of doing his duty to the clan as an apprentice training to be a warrior, there was Brooksong. BROOKSONG. Always telling him to straighten his back, lose the attitude, eat more to grow big and strong, yadda yadda. Can't a cat have some peace?Thank Starclan though, he thought, Brooksong herself perhaps had yet to notice. Perhaps Kestrelpaw had time to sneak past the old she-cat and make his way downtown down to a more quiet and secluded place. He was still quite small, so he prayed dearly to Starclan that Brooksong would not notice him. The prayer went unfortunately unheard as the tom managed to step on a weak stick while trying to slink away. The stick gave a resounding snap, as if it was mocking Kestrelpaw for trying to avoid a long lecture from the senior warrior. Oh dear. Here came the storm. He was going to get one heck of an earful. He sat up, wrapping his fluffy tail around his legs, and braced for impact.OOC NOTE: i just let myself in, hope that's okay c': im sorry if the reply isnt good enough have mercy ;u;b

Brooksong ~ 132 ~ Senior Warrior ~ She-cat
Brooksong had not gotten far out of camp when she needed to decide where exactly she wanted to go. As she attempted to think she heard a small sound from behind her and without thinking she turned to see what the sound had been. Kestralpaw. The small apprentice had followed her out of Camp, how sweet! Perhaps he was looking for a little extra help on his hunting or battling and he wanted to come to the most senior and talented warrior WindClan had to offer. What an ego-boosting thought. Of course, he wasn't going to get very far snapping twigs with every step and she decided it was best to tell him so.
"Kestralpaw, my young one, are you here to tag a long for some extra training? Well I should remind you to be more careful where you walk. Even a small twig snap like that could scare away all the prey in the area. Its a good thing we weren't actually hunting yet!" She closed the gap between them and wrapped her tail around the young tom. "Come! We have a long day ahead of us with fixing you up to be a strong, WindClan hunter. I bet this is exactly how you wanted to spend your day."
She wasn't being sarcastic. Comments// Naw yer totally good And sorry mine is short I usually dramatically drop word count between my starter and replies >.>

Kestrelpaw
Unfortunate. It seems the young apprentice had been found. He cursed his luck then quietly turned to face the senior she-cat.
"Good morning Brooksong." he replied, attempting to hide any trace of irritation in his voice. I unfortunately have things to tend to with Ashpaw. I wanted to go on ahead and prepare.
That was, of course, what Kestrelpaw wanted to say, but then immediately thought that it was quite possibly the worst way to convince Brooksong. Starclan put that stick there, it wasn't me! I was being as careful as a fox! Nope, he couldn't say that either. Oh right! Longstride! Longstride was his mentor now, perhaps he could use that excuse.
"Er, Longstride is currently training me in my hunting stance so I simply came down here to uh, wait for him." he managed to say. Wow. That was probably the worst excuse ever. He'd have to apologize to Longstride later if he inadvertently managed to bring him into the conversation. Way to throw your mentor under the towel.
"If you don't mind I'd like to be left alone for a while. Of course, if you do mind, I'd like to remind you I'm not a kit anymore." he grumbled.

Kestrelpaw returned her greeting and then sat patiently, listening to what the older she=cat had to say. Eventually he responded. "Er, Longstride is currently training me in my hunting stance so I simply came down here to uh, wait for him." She nodded and smiled. "Ah yes, Longstride. He certainly is a great mentor, isn't he. I remember when he was no older then yourself. He had so much potential and he certainly lived up to it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we did some extra training before he got out here.
"If you don't mind I'd like to be left alone for a while. Of course, if you do mind, I'd like to remind you I'm not a kit anymore." The apprentice diverted his eyes and showed signs of being uncomfortable with Brooksong's prattling and pushing for extra training. He wanted to be alone? What, was she not good enough to train him? Was it because she was old (because there was definitely no chance that her annoying chatter had anything to do with his request)? Brooksong was taken aback and literally took a step back to show her shock and confusion. "Where is the fun in being left alone? And if you wanted to be left alone, then why did you follow me out here in the first place. You could have waited for your mentor inside rather then get my hopes up."
The older she-cat hung her head. "Oh well, if you don't want my help then I guess I'll just go off hunting by myself then." The tabby cat turned and started to walk away rather slowly.

Kestrelpaw
...Well if he didn't feel bad before, he certainly felt bad now. Hurting the feelings of a cat older than him, and the clan leader's sister to boot. He might as well make it up to her. Kestrelpaw cursed himself under his breath before addressing the she-cat.
"W-wait!" Kestrelpaw called out to the she-cat, flustered. He padded up to her quickly and said, "Uh, sorry about what I said earlier, just forget about it."
He sighed and then said, "If you're looking for someone to hunt with, no one else is up yet. I, uh, I guess I'll tag along for a hunting session." He then grumbled, "Just take it as my way of apologizing for earlier."
Sure, that response didn't SOUND any better, but at least he apologized to Brooksong and offered to make up with her. Surely that would let her not feel too depressed later on. Or would that just get him into more trouble? Well it was too late now, the words have been spoken, and words spoken couldn't be taken back. Well, apologies could make up for the initial sting, but Kestrelpaw figured she wouldn't let go of his attitude from earlier. Oops.
