MEDICINAL HERBS
Without the aid of Twoleg medicine, the cats have learned of almost equally effective treatment for their maladies. Here is a fairly comprehensive list, though more details can be found here, and this is essentially an abridged version of that.
TREATMENTS
- ALDER BARK - eases toothache
- BEECH LEAVES - helpful for carrying other herbs, no medical effect
- BINDWEED - fastens sticks to broken legs to act as a kind of cast
- BLACKBERRY LEAVES - chewed into a pulp to be put on bee stings to reduce the swelling
- BORAGE LEAVES - improves milk quality and quantity of nursing queens, also reduces fevers
- BROOM - poultices for broken legs and wounds, not used alone
- BURDOCK ROOT - painkiller and healer for infected rat bites, prevents infection from rat bites
- BURNET - traveling herb, keeps a cat's strength up
- CATCHWEED - burrs put on poultice areas to stop it from being rubbed off
- CATMINT -

- CHAMOMILE - traveling herb to soothe and strengthen
- CHERVIL - for infected wounds, bellyaches, and kitting
- CHICKWEED - treats greencough, less preferable when compared to catnip
- COB NUTS - used to make ointments
- COBWEBS - helps bleeding, can also be used for broken bones, essentially a bandage
- COLTSFOOT - helps breathing and kitten-cough, treats cracked and sore pads
- COMFREY ROOT - helps broken bones and soothes wounds, pulled claws, itchiness, and inflammation and stiffness
- DAISY LEAF - traveling herb, eases aching pains
- DANDELION - helps with bee stings, also a minor painkiller
- DOCK - soothes scratches, sore pads, and pain from wounds (stings when applied)
- FENNEL - helps hip pain, can be used in kitting
- FEVERFEW - helps stabilize temperature, heal pain, and is good for headaches
- GOATWEED - helps with anxiety and grief
- GOLDENROD - made into poultices for healing wounds
- HAWKWEED - treats greencough and whitecough, not as powerfully as catmint
- HEATHER NECTAR - sweetens medicinal mixtures
- HONEY - soothes infections and coughing, sweetens medicinal mixtures, heals sore or damaged throats
- HORSETAIL - when applied as a poultice, treats infections and stops bleeding
- IVY LEAF - helps with herb storage
- JUNIPER BERRIES - soothing for bellyaches, anxiety, and troubled breathing, gives strength
- LAMB'S EAR - gives cat strength, mostly Tribal medicine
- LAVENDER - cures fevers and chills, hides the scent of death
- MALLOW LEAVES - soothes bellyache
- MARIGOLD - stops infection and bleeding, soothes inflammation of stiff joints
- MINT - hides scent of death
- MOUSE BILE - removes fleas and ticks
- DRIED OAK LEAF - stops infection
- PARSLEY - slows down and prevents the production of milk, cures bellyache
- POPPY SEEDS - calming, painkilling, sleep-inducing
- RAGWORT LEAVES - helps aching joints, gives strength
- RAGWEED - gives extra strength and energy
- RASPBERRY LEAVES - eases pain, stops bleeding
- ROSEMARY - hides scent of death
- RUSH - helps hold broken limb in place
- SNAKEROOT - heals poison
- SORREL - traveling herb, builds appetite
- STICK - when bitten, can distract from pain
- STINGING NETTLE - induces vomit and reduces swelling, helps with wounds, infections, and broken bones
- SWEET-SEDGE - eases infection
- TANSY - cures coughs, treats wounds and poisons, prevents greencough, soothes throats
- TORMENTIL - treats wounds, extracts poisons
- THYME - calms nervousness, anxiety, and shock
- TRAVELING HERBS - sorrel, daisy, chamomile, and burnet, mostly used for strength and stamina
- WATERMINT - eases bellyache-induced pain
- WILD GARLIC - prevents infection, especially rat bites, can hide scent
- WILLOW BARK - eases pain
- WILLOW LEAVES - stops vomiting
- WINTERGREEN - treats wounds and some poisons
- YARROW - extracts poison, used to make a cat vomit, can help cracked pads
POISONS
- DEATHBERRIES/NIGHT SEEDS - kills within minutes, red berries from yew bush
- FOXGLOVE SEEDS - used to treat the heart, but can cause paralysis and heart failure, tiny black seeds that are almost identical to poppy seeds
- HOLLY BERRIES - red berries from holly bushes
- NIGHTSHADE - "deadly nightshade," kills quickly, berries are shiny and black
- WATER HEMLOCK - causes writhing, pain, and foaming at the mouth
