It still felt like a novelty that Drizzlefur could leave camp whenever she wanted. She didn't have to ask permission anymore if she wanted to get out, even just for a walk. Of course it was still a good idea to tell at least someone she was going out. StarClan knows nobody wanted Lilacsky freaking out over her going 'missing'. She'd probably tear the territory apart until her 'little darling' was found.
With that in mind, Drizzlefur had told Amberheart she was going to the half bridge to fish. The lake had thawed out finally, and already her Clanmates were looking healthier and happier. Drizzlefur was determined to do everything she could to keep them smiling, and if that meant causing her dear old mother some distress... Well, she never DID have that rebellious phase that most everyone said was part of growing up. Now seemed like a good time when she still had the excuse of being young, right?
Currently she was poised to strike right at the end of the half bridge. The sky was partly cloudy, thick chunks of white that blocked the sun completely whenever it passed. Drizzlefur waited for such a moment to pass, poised to strike out at the water as soon as she got a chance. At the exact moment that chance came and Drizzlefur lashed out, a harsh wind blew, sending an unexpected splash of water in her face.
She yelped in surprise and went to scramble backwards, but the wood underneath her paws was slick and slippery from recent rain. Drizzlefur's paws slipped from under her and the newly named warrior fell straight down into freezing cold water. Her head burst through the surface easily enough, having been RiverClan all her life, but her teeth chattered even as she struggled to pull herself up. "COLD. COLD. SO COLD." she yelped out loud.

| It was a strange thing not being an apprentice anymore. Rainpebble always had this feeling that he should be constantly asking permission for what duties he needed to attend to next but he found out fairly quickly that the older warriors did not have the time to order about a younger warrior. Instead he just waited until he was put on patrols and attempt to make friends among the other warriors. If he was being honest with himself though he was starting to get dreadfully bored of the typical day to day duties, he could not help but wish he was able to do anything more exciting. He still thought like an apprentice, dreaming of adventure first and his clan second.
He wasn't too fond of being out of camp alone, it was still a bit intimidating for him to be walking on the familiar ground without his mentor or any friends by his side. Being alone like this made him think too much and the last thing he wanted right now was to get into his own head and have overly serious thoughts, a warm day like this was certainly no time to be grim. He decided that practicing his fishing would be a good alternative to keep himself busy.
Rainpebble was about to head to one of his more favored fishing spots when he heard an odd noise. He trotted quickly to the half-bridge only to see Drizzlefur slip into the water. While he could not say he shared much love towards his sister he still felt a flash of panic when he saw his kin fall. It was enough that he ran over as quickly as he could. His worry quickly faded as he saw her begin to pull herself up again. He felt a little distaste at himself for worrying in the first place, of course Drizzlefur could swim! "I guess I can't hunt here anymore, the fish are looking furry." he said loudly as he walked over to her. "Need help?" His voice was bland as he watch her struggle up, their parents would not approve that he did not help Drizzlefur immediately but she was a warrior she could take care of herself. He thought it was only polite to ask if she even wanted help.

Drizzlefur tried her hardest to climb onto the half-bridge. In normal conditions, she wouldn't have had a problem hauling herself up. But the water was cold from snowmelt and already the chill was seeping through her fur and digging into her bones. Muscles stiffened up and refused to move, even after mentally begging them too. It took sheer willpower for her to not sink back down.
"I guess I can't hunt here anymore, the fish are looking fur." The voice brought both hope and despair to Drizzlefur. Of all the cats to come upon her in her time of need, it had to be Rainpebble. She knew how he felt about her. It wasn't like he'd kept his disdain for her a secret. He treated her more like a distant Clanmate at most times than a littermate, despite growing up playing together. "Need help?"
Drizzlefur prayed to StarClan he actually meant it. It was entirely possible he was only offering out of courtesy and politeness, not actually wanting to help. Whether or not Rainpebble was serious, Drizzlefur nodded frantically. "P-p-please." she chattered, teeth clinking together in her shivering. At that moment her muscles finally rebelled against her and gave out, sending her back into the water with a large splash.

| Rainpebble's ears twitched in annoyance as he saw Drizzlefur fall into the water. He did not want to show his disgust so openly but for a brief, heartless moment he did pause for he could not believe how weak Drizzlefur was. How could a cat that was not only his kin but his littermate not be able to do something so simple? Of course he knew the answer, Drizzlefur was just a spoiled weakling. Even though they were Riverclan cats he had a sudden worry that his littermate could drown if he did not help, he still had to help his kin.
He ran over to the edge of the half-bridge quickly, hoping if he was quick enough he would be able to simply grab Drizzlefur before she moved to far away. As he went to reach down towards the water though he did not expect quite how slippery the wood would be and instead of saving his sister he fell into the water with her. The moment he hit the water he thought he was frozen, he had not expected the water to be so freezing! It reminded him of the harsh leaf-bare the clan endured when he was a young apprentice which was not long ago at all but to him it had felt like many moons pass.
The moment of shock passed as he tried to concentrate on keeping his head above the water. He could feel the strong current underfoot, the lake was stronger than he expected but he was a young warrior and luckily for him he was able to balance as long as he did not kick his legs too hard. Just as he got use to the water he remembered why he was in it in the first place. "Mousebrain!" He grumbled to himself as he tried to look for Drizzlefur. When he saw her gray shape he slowly was able to make his way next to her. He grabbed onto her scruff and with great effort he tried to pull them towards shallower water to where Drizzlefur might be able to get her footing again. When he was able to feel sand under his feet he let go, his muscles strained and his body shaking with the cold. "Please don't tell Lilacsky and Ripplestrike this happened." He panted, no sure if Drizzlefur was even able to listen to him.

For one terrifying moment, Drizzlefur actually thought Rainpebble would just leave her there. Fear pounded through her at the idea of this being it, she was going to die only just after getting her warrior name. She'd just closed her eyes and accepted her fate when teeth closed her scruff and hauled her up. She instincitvely went limp to make it easier for her brother to pull her along until she felt sand beneath her paws.
She pulled herself up after Rainpebble released her and shook herself off as much as she could. Being a RiverClan cat, being wet never bothered her, but letting herself stay soaked with such cold water would only lead to her getting sick. Even afterwards she walked in circles a little, trying to warm her muscles up now. "Please don't tell Lilacsky and Ripplestrike this happened." Rainpebble suddenly spoke.
It was such a Rainpebble thing to say that she burst out laughing. Her head was thrown back and her entire frame shook with mirth. Whether it was relief from the near death experience or request itself that brought it on, not even she knew. "Which part, that I fell off the half-bridge or you fell in after me?" she giggled out. "B-Because I don't think they'd be happy with either of those!" And with that she laughed even louder.

Amberdawn hated to baby her sister. She knew very well that Drizzlefur, for the most part, could care for herself. And it didn't help her being spoiled if Amberdawn started to coddle her as well, but the fact of the matter was that Drizzlefur was a bit...optimistic. Amberdawn had been grooming herself when her sister appeared, letting her know that she was going to go fishing. That was earlier in the day, and it felt like it'd been a while since she'd seen her sister. Amberdawn hated to worry. But she knew if she didn't go make sure Drizzlefur was alright, Lilacsky would somehow sense her hesitation, and then she'd have a total meltdown. Amberdawn went to find her mother, and quickly let the older she-cat know that she was going fishing with Drizzlefur. A little white lie. This way, their mother wouldn't be worried about either of them. 'Yes, because Lilacsky would throw just as big a fit if you disappeared, too.' The thought wasn't bitter - almost amused, really. Amberdawn knew her mother and father loved her, but it just wasn't in the same way that they absolutely adored Drizzlefur. The fluffy she-cat trotted out of camp, making quick work of the trip to the greenleaf twolegplace. She didn't like coming near twoleg territory. They were things of nightmares, scary monsters in stories that elders told to kits. She was realistic, of course, but that meant she understood how dangerous it was to be slipping through their territory. When she was only a few tail-lengths from the half bridge, she heard a loud splash. "Well, that doesn't sound good." She sighed to herself, picking up the pace and arriving just as she Rainpebble pulled Drizzlefur into the shallow water near the bridge. Leaning over the edge of the bridge to peer down at her siblings, Amberdawn felt a sense of relief when her sister began to laugh. "Decided you two would go for a swim, I see." She commented, laying down and letting her two front paws dangle over the edge, tail flicking back and forth over the wooden boards of the bridge. all we can do is keep breathing

| Rainpebble failed at trying not to scowl at Drizzlefur's reaction, he could not believe she was laughing! Despite his cold, soaking pet he felt warm with anger as he thought Drizzlefur was making fun of him. "Ugh, you're such a kit." He grumbled as he found a dry spot to start licking his fur dry. He was shaking from the cold but he kept his body hunched to try to retain what heat remained, it also made him look as grumpy as he felt.
'Decided you two would go for a swim, I see'
Rainpebble let out an angry sigh when he heard that voice, while he was glad it was not Lilacsky or Ripplestrike who had found him and his sister he was not sure if this was much better. Amberdawn was one of his kin that he actually tolerated but he was certainly in no mood to be wanting to deal with both of his sisters. All he needed now was their parents to come trotting along to spend all their attention on poor Drizzlefur. "All I wanted was a quiet day of fishing." His voice came out as a whine, how unfair it was that he couldn't even hunt for his clan without something going wrong. What would he do if he got sick again because of this?

Drizzlefur heard Rainpebble mutter something under his breath, but her laughter was too loud to really hear what it was. She tried to get it under control, tried to at least calm it down, but couldn't. The sheer relief of being alive and not... not being the opposite of alive gave her such a euphoric feeling that she just couldn't stop laughing.
A voice from above, not in the biblical sense, caught her attention. Peering down at her was a mostly white face, one that was very familiar. As it should be, considering Drizzlefur grew up right next to that face. "It was an accident! I slipped at the edge and fell into the water and it was really really cold and I couldn't move and- and Rainpebble saved my life!"
She turned to her brother, eyes wider now than they'd been. "You saved my life. I won't forget that, Rainpebble, and I promise I'm going to make sure Lilacsky doesn't either." Drizzlefur knew their parents' attitudes grated on Rainpebble. She didn't blame him, and hoped that promising to tell their mother about it would sooth some of the hurts he felt.

Amberdawn couldn't help but feel a smile tugging at her face as Rainpebble complained about simply wanting to fish. It was fair - not everyone liked to be a hero and save lives, especially not when it was your favored sibling. Flicking her bushy tail, the she-cat regarded her siblings with a soft hint of affection on her otherwise relaxed expression. Her pale gaze flicked over to her sister as the she-cat started to explain, finally gaining some semblance of control over her laughing fit. "You know, I think Poppystar would even commend you for helping a clanmate in need. Surely Drizzlefur would have drown if you hadn't come along, Rainpebble." Amberdawn commented airily, her gaze swinging lazily between her siblings. "Or, if you'd prefer, we could just pretend you weren't here at all. Just fishing somewhere else around the lake." The fluffy she-cat stood, making the small leap down to the lakeshore, the soft sand sucking at her paws. "In the meantime, you'll both catch sickness if you don't get dried off." Leaning in, the she-cat drew a tongue over her sister's ear, ruffling the fur there, before stepping back and regarding both her siblings closely. "You're both lucky it's quite sunny out today. We can either stay here until you're both dry, or head back to camp now, if you'd like." Amberdawn suggested, flicking her tail towards a few rocks near the lakeshore, bathed in sunlight. She wasn't sure how Rainpebble would take the offer - while most RiverClanners enjoyed basking in the sun and having lazy fishing days, her brother seemed stoutly against spending too much bonding time with his family. Amberdawn wished she could share some of her personality with him - show him that it hardly mattered if their parents doted on Drizzlefur. It probably wouldn't even be something he truly wanted - to constantly be treated like a helpless kit. Glancing over at Drizzlefur, Amberdawn could already imagine Lilacsky's wail of horror at the sight of her water-logged favorite. Wincing at the thought, Amberdawn tried to brush it away. Surely one day their parents would realize that Drizzlefur was an adult, too. "Why don't we bask for a while? I'll even catch us some fish." all we can do is keep breathing

| Rainpebble wanted to lecture Drizzlefur on how he should not have even needed to save her, she was a warrior she should not need anyone's help! He kept his mouth shut, if Amberdawn had not been there he just might have yelled at Drizzlefur in hopes that she would get her little spoiled head out of the mud but as both his sisters spoke of keeping this experience a secret he felt his anger slowly ebb away.
While being the warrior who had saved his sister was an appealing title and he felt a bit warmed by the pride that even though Drizzlefur was being stupid he had been the one to help. Still, if the clan knew what he had done he was certain it would take only minutes before all the attention was on Drizzlefur. "Let's just make sure Lilacsky doesn't find out, okay?" he said, looking steadily at Drizzlefur as he spoke, "Imagine how ridiculous it will sound to her that a Riverclan warrior nearly drowned." His tone was harsher now but his words were soften a bit by the shaking in his voice as he felt himself become colder as a slight wind picked up.
With a great, heaving sigh he stood from the sandy ground to give himself a shake to rid his fur on some water and sand, ignoring the close proximity of his sisters. "That is the most reasonable thing I've heard all day, if we go to camp now we're surely to get pestered with questions." He told Amberdawn at the suggestion of sunning to get warm. Even he was too cold to argue about what a waste of time it would actually be. He had wanted to to point out that he and Drizzlefur were already wet, might be a good opportunity to fish but considering he was not getting any warmer he could hardly stand the thought of fishing in the cold lake. Turning his back to his sisters, he walked tall and confidentially towards the flat rocks carrying about as if it had been his idea in the first place.
